The main reasons for BMW cylinder gasket oil leakage are as follows:
Sealing component aging: As an important sealing component in the engine, the cylinder gasket made of rubber material will gradually age, harden, and lose elasticity when working in high temperature and high pressure environments for a long time, resulting in a decrease in sealing performance and oil leakage.
Fault in crankcase ventilation system: The crankcase ventilation valve is blocked, which will cause the pressure inside the crankcase to rise beyond the range that the valve cover gasket can withstand, leading to oil leakage from the cylinder gasket.
Installation issue: When installing the cylinder gasket, if the bolt tightening torque is uneven or does not reach the specified torque, it will cause the gasket to not fit tightly with the cylinder body and cylinder head, resulting in oil leakage. In addition, unclean installation surfaces with impurities or oil residue can also affect the sealing effect.
Abnormal engine operation: Long term operation of the engine under high temperature and high load conditions can accelerate the aging and damage of the cylinder gasket. If the engine experiences malfunctions such as knocking or overheating, it may also cause the cylinder gasket to be impacted or deformed, leading to oil leakage.
Deformation of cylinder block or cylinder head: During the use of the engine, the cylinder block or cylinder head may deform due to external impact, excessive wear, or thermal stress, resulting in an increase in the clearance between the cylinder gasket and them, leading to oil leakage.
